Whether you choose to fly or drive to Hua Hin from Bangkok, once you’re there it makes sense to stay a while. It’s a good-sized destination in its own right and receives plenty of Thai visitors from Bangkok looking for a relaxed time away from the hustle and bustle of the capital. Also, foreigners are visiting in increasing numbers now because the word has spread that it’s as an enjoyable destination that offers something a little different to other destinations like Phuket, Chiang Mai or Pai.
Here are three things to do while in Hua Hin when you are staying a little longer rather than just passing through.
Get Settled for a While
Staying in a hotel or boutique guesthouse is possible, but you never feel totally comfortable doing so. There’re too many people moving around and it’s a worry about the safety of your possessions too.
It’s always better to rent your own apartment. Go for a long stay Hua Hin rental because you have control over your home environment. Once this is set up, you’ll have a home base, feel safer, and will enjoy your stay in the city far more.
A Piece of Italy
The Venezia is an open-air retail experience for people who wish to combine shopping just out of town with Venetian-style buildings and walking areas that are reminiscent of Italy. While this destination is cool in the daytime, it really comes into its own when the sun goes down and the buildings light up.
There’s even a 200-meter long version of the Grand Canal and a bell tower. For anyone who’s longed to visit Venice or who wants a repeat, try the Venezia instead. The Venezia has trains, little buggies, 300+ stores, and everything else you can think of. You’ll also enjoy a different retail experience from that of the ubiquitous Central Shopping Malls with a host of retail brands and dining options.
Head Out of Town to Khao Takiab Beach
Take a break from Hua Hin and head out just four miles to Khao Takiab Beach. It’s a delightful sandy beach where it’s pleasant to relax or walk along the seashore. The southern tip has shade to take advantage of during the hottest part of the day if you’re worried about sunburn too.
The beach is right near Khao Takiab Hill, which provides some exercise if you climb to the top. A visit here can include a walk, some beach time, and a relaxing drink or meal on or near this beachside location. Imagine picturesque beach life without the hordes of crowds that you typically get on Phuket island. It is picture postcard perfect for some idyllic snaps for your Instagram page to make your friends back home instantly jealous (isn’t that what Instagram is best used for?).
Beyond the suggestions above, there are waterparks, walks around town to see what you can discover, and several art galleries too. Hua Hin has plenty to offer visitors who choose to stick around for a while before heading back to Bangkok. Don’t miss out.
