Top Five Friday – I jogged the half marathon

Participating in a half marathon or a full marathon has to be one of the most exciting things in one can do. I had no intention of participating in one because I had no prepared physically nor mentally. Would I classify this as one of the best decisions in life, no I wouldn’t and couldn’t even if I wanted to. I had shared last week that my sister Lucy would be running, she’s been training even before we were invited to the pre-event. Though running a half marathon wasn’t on her list it was something she could do regardless because of her personal training.

Whilst I do not want to focus entirely on my participation on the Oxford Half Marathon I will mention it again in today’s Top Five Friday.

Top Five Friday – I jogged a half marathon

Oxford Half Marathon – I have been banging on about the Oxford Half Marathon hosted by Virgin Sport for weeks now. We got invited to a pre-event in September where we discussed preparing for a marathon physically, mentally and nutrition. I knew I was nowhere near being ready to participate and yet on the day I did and though I am very proud I am in shock too. The half marathon is 13.1 miles and I managed to walk and jog it without stopping and without breakfast or prior training. I am amazed at what my body is capable of and now I am thinking how different it would have been had I prepared for it. It took me just under 4 hours to complete it. I got my medal and goodies whilst my sister did it in less than 2 hours.

Collaborations – I am used to companies and brands pitching me and not the other way around. We’ve been fortunate on A July Dreamer and The Myrabev Life to collaborate with so many companies, recent collaboration is with The Idle Man. It’s a men’s fashion online store with one store in London but sell world wise both own label and brands.

Pitching a Restaurant – I finally took the plunge and pitched a local restaurant and am very happy about that. I have not heard back from them but that’s ok, I wasn’t expecting them to reply. To be honest I was so nervous I deleted the email 20 times before I sent it. Pitching companies is not something I have done before and it scared the bejesus of me but fingers crossed.

Barcelona Getaway

As I type this I am in Barcelona on my mini solo getaway for some much-needed R&R. I was worried the recent riots and referendum clash would affect my getaway but nope. The Spanish people just carried on as nothing has happened and the streets have been quite safe. I have plans to do lots of exploring today including visiting the Sagrada Familia this afternoon. What’s been awesome so far on my getaway has been the weather and company I am keeping. Yesterday I went to the beach and just lay there enjoying the weather and soaking it all in. Staying with a friend’s friend whose a local and gave me an awesome tour of the old town. Such an incredible and enchanting place to visit, Picasso Museum is right next to his place.

Friday 13th. Yes I can be a superstitious sort when it comes to friday the 13th and the myths. Let’s just say I don’t like to tempt faint and often stay home every Friday 13th. But since I leave Barcelona tomorrow morning I will be out today. Obviously my overzealous and cautious mind is going out of it’s brain trying to deter me from living the house. Normally I would listen but I am ignoring it just for today.

And there you have it, my top Five Friday and yes I really Jogged the half marathon. Many people keep asking me how my body is  and honestly I did so many squats after I am fine.
